(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “JCB’s equipment has already been documented in use on illegal projects such as the construction of the Apartheid Wall, Israeli settlements and the demolition of Palestinian homes,” War on Want campaign group said. “But by moving from supplying civilian machines to military vehicles, JCB has entered a new phase of complicity with Israeli war crimes,” it added. War on Want said that an Israeli army announcement from September 2011 shows that JCB has supplied an armored bulldozer, the High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE), to the Israeli military to be used “by the paratroopers’ division of the Israeli army’s Central Command.” The campaign group has in a letter called on Bamford to take the necessary steps to end JCB’s arms sales to the regime and ensure its equipment “is not used to commit human rights violations in Palestine.” Bamford is one of the top ten donors to the British Conservatives and has donated a massive £1,106,000 to the party since they formed the coalition government with Liberal Democrats in May 2010. The revelation that he is profiting from Palestinians’ plight is hugely embarrassing to Conservatives especially after Foreign Secretary William Hague’s repeated - though unwilling -“condemnations” of the “illegal” Israeli settlement-building in the Palestinian territories.
